夜莺
A long time ago in China there lived an emperor.
很久以前，中国有一位皇帝。
The emperor loved to read books.
皇帝很喜欢读书。
One day, in the book he was reading, it wrote, "The most beautiful precious treasure is the bird nightingale."
有一天，他读的那本书里写道："世上最珍贵的宝贝是夜莺。"
The emperor had never seen or heard of nightingale.
可是皇帝从来没有听说过也从没见过夜莺。
"What is nightingale?" No one has ever seen or heard of it.
"什么是夜莺啊？"可是从来没有人见过或听说过。
The emperor was very curious as to what nightingale was.
夜莺是什么皇帝越来越好奇。
"Bring nightingale to me at once".
立刻把夜莺给我带过来。
The servants were worried by the emperor's command.
仆人们对皇帝的命令担心不已。
They looked here and there.
他们到处寻找夜莺。
One day a little girl said that she knew of nightingale.
有一天，一位小女孩说她知道夜莺是什么。
She said that the bird she had was nightingale.
她有一只鸟名字就叫夜莺。
It was a small cute bird.
是一只非常可爱的小鸟。
At once nightingale was brought to the emperor.
仆人们立刻将夜莺带到皇帝面前。
The emperor was very happy.
皇帝非常开心。
"Ah ~ is this bird called nightingale?" For the first time in his life, he heard the beautiful voice and was impressed and deeply moved.
"啊，这只鸟就是夜莺？"这是他平生第一次听到如此动人的声音，被这美妙的歌声深深地触动了。
"Please give me nightingale and I will reward you handsomely." So nightingale came to live in the palace.
"请把夜莺送给我，我会给你丰厚的回报。"于是夜莺就住在了宫殿里。
Everyday Nightingale sang for the emperor.
夜莺每天为皇帝唱歌。
Emperor was happy every time he heard Nightingale sing.
每次听到夜莺唱歌皇帝都非常开心。
He was so proud of Nightingale that he allowed the servants to hear it too.
有这么个夜莺皇帝感到非常骄傲，甚至还允许仆人们听夜莺歌唱。
However, Nightingale was not happy.
但是，夜莺并不开心。
Nightingale felt trapped and had no freedom.
夜莺被困在笼子里失去了自由。
One day the neighboring country sent a gift to the emperor.
有一天邻国给皇帝进献了一份礼物。
It was a nightingale doll made of jewels and gold.
这是一个由珠宝和黄金制成的夜莺娃娃。
Every time the doll was wound up it sang beautifully.
每次只要给娃娃上紧发条，娃娃就会欢快的唱歌。
Furthermore, the emperor if wanted could hear it everyday.
而且，只要皇帝想听随时都可以听到。
"It's really amazing. It's beauty is the finest in the world." The real Nightingale was sad.
"这真是太神奇了。它是世界上最漂亮的宝贝。"真正的夜莺听到后很伤心。
The real Nightingale decided to leave.
于是，真的夜莺打算离开。
It flew off into the forest of freedom.
它飞回自由自在的森林里去了。
The Nightingale doll kept on singing.
而那个夜莺娃娃还在不停地唱歌。
One day the doll broke.
突然有一天娃娃坏了。
No body was able to fix it.
但是没有人会修理。
The emperor was heart broken.
皇帝的心也跟着碎了。
The emperor became ill.
没过几天，皇帝生病了。
He just laid there waiting to die.
他躺在那里静静地等待死神的降临。
Just then, from the window, a beautiful song came flowing in.
就在这时，从窗外传来美丽的歌声。
Everyone looked.
大家都在看。
Sitting by the window, Nightingale began singing.
夜莺栖在窗边开始唱歌。
Shortly after, the emperor became better.
没过多久，皇帝的病情好转了。
Nightingale was happy.
夜莺很开心。
Soon, the emperor's face was filled with happiness once again.
现在，皇帝的脸上又一次洋溢着幸福的笑容。
