I'm Estelle. Some people like to call me The Girl Terry Fox". When I was 13, I had bone
cancer in one of my legs. Before long, it spread
to my other leg. The doctors at the hospital did
many tests on me and discovered that part of
my legs had to be cut off. They would give me
prostheses so I could at least walk. I was reall
scared, and sad too, because I'd always loved
sports, especially running. The doctors said that I
would never be able to run again. I was crushed
Running was my biggest passion I refused
to let myself be stopped. At first when I got my
prostheses, I could barely move them. But soon
with practice, I could walk with crutches. My
best friend Gina was my personal trainer, and we
trained every day. With her help, I soon could
ralk without crutches. And finally, I could run
again! I was overjoyed and proud of myself for
beating the odds
