Lesson 63: Garbage Is Interesting! Date:June 7 Weather:Cloudy, but warm.Maybe it will rain tomorrow! Dear Diary, This week we learned about pollution. I never knew that garbage was so interesting! On Tuesday,Danny,Brian and I started a school yard clean-up. Our classmates helped. We all took bags and worked together. We picked up all the rubbish. The next day,Brian,Danny and I took a walk through ourneighbourhood. We picked up any garbage we saw. Danny found a toy car with one broken wheel. He took it home, cleaned it,and repaired it. The next day,we took our bags of garbage to school. We sorted all of it into paper, plastic, metal, glass and other. Most of the garbage was paper.People waste a lot of paper! There was less plastic than paper, and more plastic than metal. Glass was the least. Our teacher also taught us about how garbage is recycled. Later this month we will take a class trip. We will see where the city workers sort all of our garbage forrecycling. Today,Danny made a car out of garbage! He used a big cardboard box for the body and pieces of wood forthe seats. He used a bit of glue to put on the wheels. The wheels were plastic lids.It was great! Jenny When you write something, don't forget to use both sides of thepaper!
