THINK ABOUT IT!If you have a problem,what do you do first?Can disabled people live a happy life?Why or why not?What do you think about Jane's attitude toward life?When Jane was ten years old,she became ill with a kind of disease.
简十岁的时候,她患了一种疾病。
This disease damaged Jane's body.
这种病损坏了简的身体。
She can't move her arms or legs.
她不能动她的胳膊和腿。
Jane is forty years old now.
现在简40岁了。
She is unable to do many things.
很多事情她都不能做。
She can't brush her teeth.
她不能刷牙,
She can't put on her shoes.
不能穿鞋,
She can't run or jump.
不能跑或跳,
She can't make breakfast.
不能做早饭。
But she dares to try many things.
但她敢于尝试许多事情。
She has a wheelchair.
她有一辆轮椅,
She controls her wheelchair with her mouth.
她用嘴来控制。
She writes letters without her hands.
她不用手写信。
How?She talks to a special computer.
怎么写?她对着一台特殊的电脑说话。
She has a special telephone that she can answer just by saying "hello."
她有一部特殊的电话,只要她说“你好”就能接了。
Jane is married and has two children.
简结婚了并有了两个孩子。
She likes to watch her eleven-year-old son playing soccer.
她喜欢看她11岁的儿子踢足球。
From her wheelchair,Jane cheers as her son runs and kicks the ball.
当她的儿子跑着踢球时,简就坐在轮椅上欢呼。
Her daughter likes to play the piano.
她的女儿喜欢弹钢琴。
Jane will never play the piano,but she knows a lot about music.
简永远都不能弹钢琴,但她知道对音乐了解很多。
She enjoys encouraging her daughter.
她喜欢鼓励她的女儿。
Jane speaks to people about the things she has learned as a "disabled" person.
简告诉人们她作为一名“残疾人”学到的东西。
"Everyone has problems.
“人人都有难题。
If you think about your problems,you'll have a life full of problems.
如果你想着你的难题,那么你就只会拥有一个充满难题的人生。
I think about the good things in my life.
我想着我生命中好的事情,
I have a life full of good things."
我便拥有了一个充满好事的人生。”
"Do you know who is really disabled?
“你知道真正残疾的人是谁吗?
People who don't know how lucky they are."
那些不知道他们多么幸运的人。”
If you can't use your legs,you need a wheelchair.
如果你的腿不能用了,你需要一辆轮椅。
A wheelchair lets you move.
轮椅让你可以移动。
Some people play sports in wheelchairs.
一些人坐着轮椅参加运动。
Could you open the door for me,Please?
你能为我把门打开吗?
Sure!Oh,no!I can't open it!
当然!哦,不!我打不开!
The sign says "Pull," Danny,not "Push."
丹尼,标志上面写的是“拉”,不是“推”。
