In May 2001, I found a job in New York at the World Trade Center. On September 11, 2001, I arrived at my building at around 8:30 a.m.
2001年5月，我在纽约世界贸易中心找到了一份工作。2001年9月11号，我早上8:30左右到大楼。
I was about to go up when I decided to get a coffee first. I went to my favorite coffee place even though it was two blocks east from my office.
准备上楼前，我决定先去买一杯咖啡。我走进了我最喜欢的那家咖啡厅，虽然那家咖啡厅在我的办公室东边的两个街区外。
As I was waiting in line with other office workers, I heard a loud sound.
当我和其他办公室员工排队买咖啡时，我听到一声巨响。
Before I could join the others outside to see what was going on, the first plane had already hit my office building.
在我和大家一起围观时，第一架飞机已经撞上了我的办公室大楼。
We stared in disbelief at the black smoke rising above the burning building. I felt lucky to be alive.
我们难以置信地盯着大楼上空飘起的黑烟。能活着我很幸运。
Almost 10 years later, I woke up at 10:00 a.m. on February 21, 2011 and realized that my alarm never went off.
近10年后，2011年2月21号，我早上十点醒来，意识到我的闹钟没响。
I jumped out of bed and went straight to the airport. But by the time I got to the airport, my plane to New Zealand had already taken off.
我跳下床，直接去到飞机场。但是当我到达飞机场时，我的那班飞往新西兰的飞机已经起飞了。
"This is the first holiday I've taken in a year, and now I've miss my plane. What bad luck!" I thought to myself.
“这是一年来我的第一个假期，现在我错过了我的飞机。太倒霉了！” 我想着。
The other planes were full so I had to wait till the next day. The next morning, I heard about the earthquake in New Zealand the day before.
另一架飞机满员了，所以我只好等到明天。第二天早上，我听说前天新西兰地震。
My bad luck had unexpectedly turned into a good thing.
我的霉运意外地变成了好运。
