For this report I have interviewed my grandmother.

She has lived in Beijing for more than forty years.

She has seen the changes in Beijing herself.
她亲眼见证了北京的变化。
In the 1960s, the living conditions in the city were poor.
19世纪60年代,北京城的生活条件很差。
The roads were narrow and there weren't many ring roads.
道路很窄,而且没有什么环形路。
Big family were crowded into small houses.
大家庭都屈居在一个小房子里。
Many families couldn't get enough food.
很多家庭都没有足够的食物。
Few children had the chance to receive a good education.
很少有孩子能有机会接受良好的教育。
People had little money to see a doctor.
人们没有钱看医生。
And there were few hospitals.
而且医院很少。
Peole kept in touch with their friends and relatives far away mainly by letter or telegram.
人们主要通过书信或电报与远方的亲人和朋友保持联系。
China has developed rapidly since the reform and opening-up.
改革开放以来,中国发展飞快。
More and more ring roads have appeared and buildings in Beijing are becoming taller and brighter.
有了越来越多的环形路,北京的楼房也变得更高更明亮。
People's living conditions have improved a lot.
人们的居住环境改善了很多。
And there are more kinds of food and clothes to satisfy People's needs.
有很多种类的衣服和食物能够满足人们的需求。
Children can study not only in modern schools but also on the Internet.
孩子们不仅可以在现代学校里学习,还能在网上学习。
People can enjoy good medical care.
人们有了良好的医疗服务。
What's more, communications are becoming easier and quicker - people can use telephones, cellphones, fax machines and the Internet.
此外,通信也变得更加容易和快捷——人们可以使用电话、手机、传真机和网络。
Beijing has made rapid propress and it has already succeeded in hosting the 2008 Olympic Games.
北京进步神速,已经成功举办了2008年的奥运会。
I think it is important to remember the past, live in the present and dream about the future.
我觉得铭记过去、活在当下、展望未来很重要。
