Starting
a home renovation is not an easy task - especially when there are so many construction and remodeling companies out there. Construction is SO expensive these days! I put out a request for a bid and within 20 minutes, Alon Design and Remodeling got back to me via Yelp message. We pinged back and forth a couple of times and within two days, I had scheduled an appointment for them to come visit my house. They arrived promptly - 3 minutes ahead of their appointment time. I had Eli Alon, the owner, and the project manager Yogev, attend the appointment. They were both respectful and nice and shook our hands when we entered. They seemed like pros - going from room to room with Eli making comments and Yogev taking notes. This was clearly nothing new to them.
The entire appointment only lasted about 20 minutes, and Eli was VERY VERY confident, promising our project to finish in 6-8 weeks and that rain and inclement weather was no issue.
After they left, it took about a day or two (and this was during Thanksgiving week!) to receive a fully itemized estimate of all the work. The price was pretty OK too.
Despite all these glowing things, the one thing I felt was missing for me and my husband was a personal connection. Eli was very no-nonsense, business oriented, and efficient - but I was looking for someone who I thought would really understand me, my personality, and my husband's personality, so that our home would would reflect who we are! Granted, i'm sure it's hard to figure all of this out in a 20 minute appointment.
It was truly neck and neck between Alon Design and the contractor we went with, so I am sure if you choose Alon you will be satisfied! They will also provide TONS of references, videos, and phone numbers if you're really game to do lots of research.
